Global Grid Catalyst
Global Grid Catalyst is a philanthropic collaboration advancing power grid planning, development and operations worldwide. It provides grants, strategic advice and network support to civil society organizations working with governments, the private sector and international institutions. The initiative is hosted by PIE and led by Executive Director Anand Gopal and the Secretariat.
Power grids are a cornerstone of the clean energy transition. After decades of underinvestment, global attention is now turning to grid expansion and modernisation – making electricity systems smarter, more reliable and able to integrate growing shares of clean power. Global Grid Catalyst works to address grid bottlenecks and to support the achievement of the COP29 pledge to deliver an additional 25 million kilometres of grids by 2030.
While operating globally, the initiative places particular emphasis on Emerging Markets and Developing Countries, as well as the European Union. Priority countries include Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, the Philippines, Poland, South Africa, South Korea and Vietnam. Global Grid Catalyst also supports cross-border collaboration to accelerate solutions to shared grid challenges.
Global Grid Catalyst will make occasional calls for proposals which will be shared with partners and, where relevant, posted on the PIE website and LinkedIn. Unsolicited proposals are not accepted.
